San Diego: Packing Guide

San Diego: Packing Guide

Can you say GIRLS TRIP!

In a desperate need to get away from work, obligations, and certain people… a quick 48 hour SD road trip sounds a m a z i n g! Over the past few years, I have made San Diego a regular summer trip of mine. So, of course I can’t break the summer tradition…SD HERE I COME!

Mission Beach Day Look:

When packing for San Diego, I usually keep my wardrobe beachy with tons of bikinis to choose from (duh). The weather ranges from high 70s to low 80s (def a nice escape from LA’s heat wave). Shorts & tanks are totally the first things I’ll pack. One of my fav combos is white with denim—especially when heading to a beach city. A white detailed crop top from Urban Outfitters and Top Shop jean shorts, will totally suffice for our quick coastal vacay.

Since I am a lover of color… I used my Urban Outfitters Bag and Ystruly Venice Sunnies to add some “down south” Mexican flare.

Mission Beach Night Look:

When it comes to the night life, Mission beach has a vibe of its own. It’s that “let’s chill and have a beer or margarita type of atmosphere”. With that said, your outfit should give off the same vibe. I just recently bought a super cute and comfy off the shoulder from Sogno Boutique and thought it very fitting for MB. It’s cute and flirty — and when paired with some ripped white American Eagle pants, it gives that effortless casual look.

Since the beach is literally steps away from all the bars, a light sweater may come in handy for those sunset chills. Also, skip out on bring that big purse. When going out a big purse always just seems to get in the way and becomes a hassle to constantly be on theif watch. You really only need your phone, some cash, and maybe a lipstick or two. This Target clutch is perfect to hold all those items while being that perfect statement piece that ties in the whole outfit.

Did I mention that the best part about partying down in MB is sandals are totally acceptable! (Yes I know, very different then the dress code when going out in LA) Since I can barely walk in heels, it’s a total sigh of relief to know I can leave those uncomfortable heels back in the hotel room! Drunk falling and tripping over myself will be a thing of the past!

Gas Lamp District Night Look:

Gas Lamp District is the LA of San Diego. Here, is where your going out outfit can be dressed up in heels and a low cut tank or crop top are totally welcomed. Even though I am a lover of color, when going out I tend to keep it all black or sometimes I mix in a pair of dark denim. My black low cut body suit is my go-to going out shirt. I got it from Urban Outfitters and love how form fitting it is and sexy with its low cut back. Since it is pretty low cut in the front as well, I take advantage of the open space and add my Sogno black choker.

And of course… I need to bring my black Steve Madden heels. These heels are my favorite because they don’t over power the outfit and keep you looking classy, yet alluring. (But, truthfully… I also take them because they are the only heels I can comfortably walk in haha)

La Jolla Day Look:

We all knew an awesome romper was going to make an appearance at one point of this trip! A La Jolla day trip consists of tons of water activities, so you want to find something thats functional and easy to take on and off. However, La Jolla is also a lot nicer and a more expensive area in comparison to Mission Beach. With that said, you still want to make sure you are beaching it—in style. Colors like burnt orange and turquoise (you already know I had to throw in some turquoise) are very coastal colors and when matched with a golden tan from the San Diego sun…it makes for a beautiful glowing day look.

Beach Essentials:

As for the beach activities… Yes, tanning is one of the main to-do’s on our list. So obvi bringing sunblock, tanning oil, & sunglasses– but we are also adventurous girls! I absolutely love to snorkel in San Diego—even if I do look like a very ungraceful, drowning creature when I do it. So I can’t forget to bring my snorkel gear & go pro.

What has become a real life saver is my portable charger. From all the pictures and snaps I’ll be taking…this charger def comes in handy when your 1 minute away from your phone being dead. Save yourself the anxiety and get one of these ASAP.
